The main runway at London Gatwick airport, operated by VINCI Airports, is the busiest runway in the world. In September 2025, the UK government approved plans to convert the existing standby runway so that it can be used at the same time as the main runway, which will increase the airport’s annual passenger capacity from over 43 million to 80 million.
