Cabo Verde, where the seven airports acquired by VINCI Airports in 2023 saw record-breaking traffic growth of over 60% in three years, showcases just how effective the public-private partnership (PPP) model can be. Phase one saw €80 million invested in modernising infrastructure and accelerating the decarbonisation of operations at Sal and São Nicolau airports. What’s more, significant environmental improvements were made at the various airports: solar power plants were installed at Sal, Praia, Boa Vista and São Vicente airports; and oil interceptors and LED lighting were installed at multiple airports. A new phase is now underway, with €142 million set to be invested over three years.
